“Observe the Sabbath and keep it holy”, was a law I commanded under the old covenant, where My people ceased from their labor one day a week to honor their Lord and King. Yet for most of that generation, though they followed My commandments, their acts became more of a tradition than that of humble reverence to My name.
Even still today, many of the religious set aside Sunday to gather and worship Me, even though the strict adherence to this law is no longer necessary, since My Son Jesus, as the sacrificial Lamb, became the Sabbath rest for all believers.
Then to say that this law still applies today and is sinful unless followed, is an error, for through His death, Christ fulfilled every law I had given to My people. And so if a religious doctrine states that a specific day is more holy than any other, those who follow this teaching lack the understanding of the finished work of the Cross. For the days and dates found on My calendar now only hold a spiritual significance, without any penalty or offense counted against believers for not adhering to the old covenant I established long ago.
Then those who are found in My Son must reject any religious teaching that recognizes a particular day of the week as sacred, and condemns those who don’t agree with their conviction, counting it a grievous act if their chosen day is not recognized as the Sabbath. This form of dogma only leads individuals into bondage, as they are weighted down with religious shackles instead of knowing liberation from condemnation in their souls.
Therefore let none of My children be tempted to embrace this idea that a specific day is holier than another. Remember that what was observed by My people under the law was a ‘type and shadow’ of My Son, which is why He is now considered your Sabbath rest, and those who say otherwise are promoting false doctrine.
So cast off these ideas and do not get caught in this trap, for each day of your life should be given in worship to the One who is Holy, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
“So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.” -Colossians 2:16-17
