With deliberate intent do they deceive so that their coffers may remain full, for indeed are their hearts ruled by the love of money, though they would claim otherwise. For even now do these prosperity preachers insist their wealth exists due to the blessing of the Lord and not their use of manipulation to coerce the masses into giving to them.
And so, as if common criminals, can they be found fleecing My flock. For from their platforms do they preach the false doctrine of prosperity which asserts that health, material wealth, and prosperity are My Will for every believer; and even contend that the lack thereof is due to the absence of monetary giving, for surely a more prosperous life will be known once financial seed is sown.
Yet, in reality, it is those prosperity peddlers who are actually benefiting from all the giving, for indeed has, for them, being in ministry become quite a lucrative venture. Yet to increase the amount of cash flowing into their coffers, new reasons to pass around the collection plate are invented, along with the reminder that the only way to receive is to give.
Thus like salesmen do they deliver their pitch hoping their words are persuasive enough to get the sheep to bite. And so do they make their appeal, carefully crafting their words so as to sound spirit led instead of being a fleshly appeal. However, truth be told, it is the love of money that drives them and, as such, should none of My own be found giving to those who peddle the doctrine of prosperity, as most who adhere to that system of belief have elevated the love of money like an altar in their hearts, and thus have been known to resort to deception in order to keep their own pockets filled with cash. For indeed, to them, is money king.
So while it is greed that is the true motivating factor with these prosperity peddlers, with My sheep it is the ‘fear of missing out’ which often moves them to give. For to have a “blessed life” is what they are after, and so give out of compulsion so that the blessing promised will manifest in their lives. As such, do they only give to receive something in return, as it is not the true spirit of generosity that governs their giving.
So though the Scriptures are clear that “it is better to give than receive”, that verse, however, has been used to leverage money from the hands of My children, for indeed are they taught that giving is what guarantees they shall have success in all their endeavors and, as such, have attached strings to their giving. For they do not freely give, but give expecting something in return, as like investors making an investment, one that will yield for them a hefty dividend.
And while I do encourage My children to sow generously, it is the attitude behind their giving that must be addressed. For the heart of true generosity does not seek to benefit from its giving, as it gladly gives without any thought of “self”. For it looks to exemplify Christ, who sacrificed even His own life for the benefit of others. Yet did He not act of His own volition, but gave of Himself in obedience to Me, and in accordance with My Will.
Then these children who are “giving to get” need to adjust their thinking so that it aligns with the mind of Christ. For He did not give to receive an earthly prize, as He knew that the reward that awaited Him on the other side of this life was much greater than anything the world could offer. Therefore, stop listening to those prosperity peddlers and the false doctrine they are selling. For it is for their own selfish gain that they are attempting to entice you to sow monetarily into their ministries. Close your ears to their message and instead, look to Me concerning your giving. For surely have I sent Holy Spirit to help guide you even in that area of your walk with Me.
So then, no longer be prompted by the fear of “missing out” when it comes to your giving. Simply wait upon Me and I will give you the specifics on how you are to give. For I may have something else in mind as far as your giving is concerned than you yourself have considered.
Therefore do I say, “Cast off any thoughts which speak to the idea of giving in order to receive, as this is not the way of My Kingdom. For giving is not a commodity to be traded as a means of obtaining wealth and riches. So then cast off that lie, and when I ask you to give, do so without expecting anything in return.”
Hear Me then, beloved, “Open handed, open hearted”, as such should be your posture; as one who is always ready to give when a need arises so that your fellow brethren do not go without. Thus should the accumulation of wealth never be your goal.
Therefore do I say again, “Stop giving to get, and simply give according to Holy Spirit’s prompting. Where, just like the early Ekklesia, you freely give from your own hands into those of another: those who truly have need of your support. For that is how generosity was meant to flow within the Body of Christ.”
